Bentuk dua dimensi dari sebuah film telah mereduksi, sekaligus menyimplifikasi realita hingga berdampak fatal pada kondisi paska-pemutaran. Di sisi lain, film ini dapat dikatakan sukses dalam industri perfilman Indonesia-hingga secara perlahan disadari- film ini tak pelak menciptakan masalah baru. Alih-alih melakukan kontrol dan bersikap menjadi sineas yang bertanggung jawab dan berwawasan lingkungan, tim produksi film 5 cm justru bertindak sebaliknya.
Proses produksi, sebagaimana akan dipaparkan nyatanya telah mencederai kondisi lingkungan di lokasi pengambilan gambar, di Taman Nasional Bromo Tengger Semeru (TNBTS). Tulisan ini akan menawarkan analisis film 5 Cm (Produksi Soraya Intercine Films, Indonesia) yang secara brutal telah mengacak-acak keseimbangan alam hingga menyebabkan krisis ekologis. Pembahasan mengenai film tidak cukup mencakup pada level produksi terkait dengan bagaimana film itu dibuat, melainkan pada level konsumsi mana kala film tersebut dikonsumsi oleh khalayak luas. Sebagai sebuah produk perkawinan antara media massa dan seni, film memiliki ruang tersendiri dalam kajian komunikasi. Everything that happens with nature is related to behaviour.
